Maralinga

Maralinga Runway

Maralinga is located just outside the south-western extremity of the WTF, approximately 520 km from Woomera Village.

The Maralinga Prohibited Area, known as Section 400, is administered by the Department of Resources, Energy & Tourism (DRET). Subject to consultation with DRET and the Maralinga Tjarutja community, facilities at Maralinga could be used in support of trial activities in the western WPA. Assets include Maralinga Airfield with a sealed north-south runway measuring 2500 x 45 metres, and Maralinga Village providing limited accommodation and catering capability.
