Spantech shelters

The WTF is used regularly by Defence and commercial groups for explosive trial and demolition activities.

Two main explosive areas are available:

• Large Scale Explosives Test Area (LSETA) for the conduct of instrumented trials involving detonations of up to 40 tonnes of explosive ordnance
• Lake Hart Demolition Area (LHDA) for the disposal of time-expired ordnance and bulk explosives (eg mining) with blasts of up to 40 tonnes of explosive material

LSETA is equipped with two large reinforced Spantech shelters for the accommodation and protection of trials’ teams and equipment.
