Autosonde Release

The Bureau of Meteorology operates a modern meteorological station at Woomera Airfield as part of the Bureau's nationwide network.

The station is equipped with a Weather Watch C-band radar and a Vaisala Autosonde facility for the programmed release of GPS weather sondes.

The Bureau routinely provides forecast and real-time surface and upper atmosphere meteorological data to users of the WTF in support of ground, air and space trials. Custom meteorological services can also be provided via negotiation with the Bureau’s Special Services Unit (refer to contact details in WTF Capability Brief).
