The Woomera Observatory Facility, completed in April 2007, is located in Cariwan St on the Southern edge of the Village.

The main observatory is a 3.5m purpose-built fiberglass dome which houses a 14” computer-controlled Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. The main telescope is capable of CCD imaging and astrophotography for digital and film SLR Cameras. We have adaptors for Nikon and Canon cameras to couple to both our main and secondary telescopes. If you wish to take astrophotographs but don’t have an adaptor to suit your camera, let us know and we will endeavour to obtain one. Our main building is available for conference purposes and 'Star Parties'. It has a Kitchen, BBQ area, bar and toilet facilities and adequate parking for cars and coaches.

The Observatory is open most evenings and can cater from families to medium sized groups. Bookings can be made through the Woomera Board on 8674 3227 or through the Woomera Visitors information Center on 8673 7042.
