Located at the entrance to Woomera Village near the Long Tom sounding rocket, the National Engineering Landmark commemorates the outstanding engineering and scientific achievements associated with the creation of the Woomera Rocket Range, and the pioneering trial activities conducted at the Range. The landmark was dedicated by the Institution of Engineers Australia in 1999.
